To some it's known as Round Mountain, to some it's known as Dome Mountain trail, on topographical maps it's shown as Sheep Mountain along Summit Trail. No matter what you call it, it's well worth the hike. Along the Big Thompson River in Loveland, Colorado on Route 34 you'll see a turn off to Round Mountain. This trail hides two separate paths. |

 Mount Major is a great hike for all ages and hiking abilities. It is a fairly short hike, although the terrain varies from easy to challenging. The ascent from the parking area to the top of the mountain takes less than an hour and takes you through the beautiful NH hardwood forest, as well as rock outcrops. At the top, there is the old foundation of a cabin that once stood there. This can be a good spot to get out of the cold winds during an early spring or late fall hike. The views from the top are spectacular, as Alton Bay and the rest of Lake Winnipesauke stretches out in the distance.

It’s starting to get a little colder here in the northeast and to avoid uncomfortable chill or sweating conditions, dress with expert layering.
Everyone knows that layering is good for you but did you know that the insulation and outerwear that keeps you comfortable on that above tree line ascent will also keep you alive? Here are the three sets of clothing you need for proper layering, all should be breathable.
1. A base layer to wick moisture off your body.
2. At last one insulating middle layer that can also work as an outer layer.
3. A windproof and or waterproof outer shell.
